In the
early 1990's, Billy Prince contacted the Fred Arbogast company in
regards to specially producing a number of wooden Musky
Jitterbugs, as well as some 5/8oz. There were between 2 and 4 of
each color ordered. I have copies of some of the correspondences
between Billy and the company - over the course of a couple of
years in the early 1990's. All in all, there were a little over
100 different colors produced. Ron Bennett has the only known (and
probably only in existence), full collection known. It is an
amazing display. I own about 16 of them which I have found over
the years. Sam Van Camp has a fairly large number of them as well.
When they come up for sale individualy, they sell for hundreds of
dollars a piece. Not bad for Billy's investment of 3 'bugs for
$25!
As time permits, I will include a
table of the different colors, as well as how many copies were
produced. The majority of these 'bugs switch hands through private
transactions. A handful have appeared on eBay over the
past several years.
